Three new titles out now from Hazel Press
Poetry collections by Maria Isakova Bennett and Jane Lovell, plus a Hazel Press Catkin by Anna de Waal
an o an x
Closely observed kettles of light, honest shadows, ash memories and a sensual universe of colour fill the art studio world of Maria Isakova Bennett’s new poetry collection an o an x.
These 22 new poems comprise Isakova Bennett’s second collection with Hazel Press following Painting The Mersey in 17 Canvases, which we published in 2022.
On Earth, as it is
A tender exploration of our planet’s environmental catastrophe by prize-winning poet Jane Lovell.
In On Earth, as it is, life on land, sea and air interweave and collide, highlighting relationships past and present. This new collection of 27 poems includes ‘Ming’, Lovell’s winning entry for the 2020 Ginkgo Prize.
Lovell’s poetry focuses on our relationship with the planet and its wildlife, taking a view informed by historical research and animated by solastalgia.
Bindweed
“early morning, gentle rain. an ash reaches out over the pond like a hand, half submerged. deep pink water lilies half closed.”
The second Hazel Catkin – a new series of occasional chapbooks, printed in limited editions of 50 copies, in response to specific places and events.
Young writer Anna de Waal reflects on three days spent at Charleston House in East Sussex, once home to Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant.
16 pages plus cover, eco-print pamphlet.
Charleston was the home of artist Vanessa Bell (Virginia Woolf’s sister), painter Duncan Grant and his lover, the writer David Garnett.
Eco-print
All three titles are printed in Suffolk using vegetable inks on 100% UK recycled paper.
